I know this isn't the forum for this but since the only other possibilty is the Intermission forum which seems to be mainly for joking around, I am posting here.

How many other people here experience constant hanging when trying to post here (happens to me sometimes, not always). I frequently can't post and either give up or have to wait 10-15 minutes to get my post to load.

Doesn't seem to happen to me anyplace else.

Thanks

No problems - everything flows fine to and from my MODEM connected computer. What's your system like ?

I know that I thought my connection was slow and I sometimes experienced what I thought were hangs - Once I upgraded from a P-II/266 to a P-4/1.8 I found that it was actually my OLD computer's ability to process video and reassemble data from packets that was slowing me down. Before buying a new computer I was sure I'd be getting DSL soon - now I'm "contented" with the speed my pages load over 56k (44 - 48 ??). Downloading files and patches is somewhat faster with the P-4 but if I did a lot of it I'd definitely get DSL.

Thanks for the reply. I've got DSL. It is not PC related because it happens on all of my computers.

Eureka ! Unfortunately, I found it !! Mine just hung too ! I was in the middle of reading a post and the page froze. My cursor was active but no links would respond and I could not close the page. The page was dead to the world. I hit F-5 to refresh the page and I was back in business. Just after I answered your post I saw a similar comment:
"Hope the site works :(" from Kabster -(I think)
It's definitely this site's issue.
(Mebbe us squatters is creatin' too much traffic for the server ??)
Just keep the F-5 key in your sights until they resolve this.

Can you hear me now ?

addendum:

They may have the page set to expire on the web server in "X" amount of time. If the time it takes you to compose a wordy message exceeds that time your "post is toast". (If they're doing this at all.)

This also means if you leave the room or get distracted for any amount of time you end up timing out. You could try composing in a text editor and then pasting it in.

The great thing about this forum is that I always know I can count on multiple people to offer helpful advice like spelling "sh*t posts fine" spelled backwards. And yes I am typing this with a big smile on my face.

You may think that is what he said, but how do you know he wasn't scrambling the letters in the first word so his post wouldn't get deleted for spelling an obscene word backwards? I know because I asked him. As for "posts" instead of "posted", I was just testing you.

this site is not that much moderated. I have seen very few deleted posts or threads, and that was before registration. And they were either because someone posted nasty messages in someone else's name or many ad posts at one time
