I recently purchased an Elan system from a dealer who was closing shop. the person said that he would include the Via tools software with the package but never did. And when I tried calling the shop back the phone had been disconnected. Now I am trying to find the software and it seems that only dealers can program these units. Is there any shareware versions of this software that someone has come up with? Any help would be appreciated.I hope that I am not stuck with an expensive paper weight.

Keypads and VIA! panels must be programmed with an outboard programmer. Without the programmer, it doesn't matter if you have the software or not, you wouldn't be able to learn IR codes or transfer the file to the keypad or VIA! touch panel.

My recommendation is to find another Elan dealer (preferably local) to handle the programming and possible system design.

What does it take for a person to fully install Elan's Via product? Apparantly you must be a dealer, but do you have to attend any training classes on the product before you can sell it or is just being a dealer enough?

I don't know if Elan officially "Requires" training, but it is recommended that you go through the training.

The training will help eliminate the "Learning Curve" and frustration associated with any new software or product.
