I have had more than my share of problems with these on a few installations. Today I did a revision upgrade from 1.11, and I can no longer download into a panel. I also have a panel with an off button that just migrated all by itself. I have computers running elan in windows 95, 98, & XP 98 works best here, but I'm interested to share problems and solutions that other people may have had. I'm having big issues with an IR through HD system that for a while worked perfectly... Then there's the Z system.. Yikes.. Don't even ask Tech support.

I am having similar problems. The IR codes seem to "jump" around after downloading to the panel. For example, if I program "Stop" on a button for DVD, after I download and try the button, it sends out "Play" or "FF", etc. Then I go back into the program, and remove the "Stop" command, and re-insert it (even though the button was correctly assigned). I then download again to try it. The "Stop" command works fine, but I find that, for example, the DSS number "3" now sends out a DSS "CH Up" command, or something else! I kept going around in circles trying to fix it. Keep in mind that the program always looks perfect--it seems to change inside the touchscreen. When I try to "fix" one thing, it "pushes" some other command around to some random button. I am having tech support try to find out what's going on, as a client is holding final payment until this gets resolved.
To me, ViaTools seems loose and buggy. You don't even have to say "Crestron" as far as well written code goes...Even "ProntoEdit" will do!

I've had the migrating off button problem as well, never did find a fix. I also ran through quite a few ir problems, still have one where Ch3 for the Ultimate TV activates the menu screen on a Marantz SR7200 once in a while. The rest of the prolems were solved w/ the latest firmware update, while it was in Beta. The best info on the system is available from the Via engineer's website. Ask your Elan rep for the url.

Are you referencing Hector's site? I do have that URL. Is there another?

OK Guys, if you don't have the answer for the moving IR, I will walk you through it. It seems that Elan has built into the v2.0 software some tools that no one has told anybody about. What is happening is you have a possible sequence error. Open your VIA file, go to tools, click on Check for possible Sequence Errors, Check Sequence strings. After that runs, go back in and run Report Total "NCP" found. Then you will have to look at every one of your IR codes and find the ones marked "NCP" and delete them and re-install them. Does not take to long. Much shorter than fighting with downloads everytime you think you may have found the problem.

Hope this helps!!!

I have tried that. I found that the program had "lost" all of the "3" number commands on a satellite page. I deleted, then replaced them all. I received no errors. I then downloaded to panel. My number "3" worked, but I lost some other functions. I looked in the program for sequence errors, and it showed errors on the newly defective buttons! Even though no errors reported before the download!
I'm not sure what to try next.

Try and uncheck the autobuild before download on download screen. Also or any of the errors on the IR for the switching of the Z or HD equiptment.

The autobuild is/was unchecked and the errors are a combination of Elan's preinstalled IR codes (for Sony, etc.) and some new codes that were taught in. Incidentally, the newly taught codes work perfectly with Z100/150 keypads.
Thanks for the input and help...I havn't heard from Elan yet regarding this, so any little bit helps!

Mark, tell me a little more about the install,ie what A/V gear, what Elan equiptment, is Via stand alone or connected to other Elan equipt. I need more info on total system. If you would like you can export the Via file and send it to me. I will still need to know how you have everthing setup. Also are you using Via Tools 2.0 and what is the via flash version.

Sorry, to interrupt the conversation. I do currently own an Elan "VIA" Homesystem, and I am looking to purchase a universal remote real soon. I have been interested in the TSU-6000, and now with some new info the Marantz RC9200. What I would like the remote to be able to do is to control my ceiling fans, indoor/outdoor lighting, drapes, Sony Big Screen 53"TV, a Pioneer Elite DV-F07 CD/DVD system, and also my Elan "VIA" touch panel and their keypads. Most importantly, I need it to control my "VIA" homesystem, which I have IR remotes in several of the rooms, since there are different zones within the house. Instead of using the remote from Elan for the "VIA", I need the best remote control on the market to be able to change the CD's, FM/AM tuner, tape deck, volume control, and my previous request. Between the two remotes I have mentioned Pronto TSU-6000 and the Marantz RC9200 what remote would you recommend? I know there is a huge difference in price. I just want to make a good decision on what the remote can bring me. If there is not much of a difference to offest the cost between the two, would you then prefer the Pronto. Thanks
