Dear Tech Heads~
I lead the inside wiring division for a national DSL ISP which has over 200,000 customers. We are keeping our eyes pealed for a nationally certified low voltage company. The company needs to be big enough to schedule appointments any where in the US, and responsive enough to handle a 3-day max scheduling back log. The job consists of installing a pots splitter and home run from the NID to a specified RJ11 jack inside the home. Any suggestions? Please email me.

I would beware of any company, nationally or not that would claim to be able to handle this. I ususally don't move a muscle until after the scheduled install date, and then nothing is guaranteed. We ususally end up going back out after the account is "really" up. I have to walk in and look at what is hanging on the wall or sitting on a shelf. Most of the time I end up telling the tech support person where to look. It seems a lot of people have trouble discerning between a modem, router, modem with a router built in, a modem-router-switch, and a modem-router-hub (ugh!) I work for a local firm. I normally end up bridging the gap between the box sent in by the ISP, and the real world of distributed internet connectivity on a LAN. There's no way the ISP can support a local LAN on-site. They seem to have enough issues just getting the signal in the building. I would say a company "big enough to schedule appointments any where in the US, and responsive enough to handle a 3-day max scheduling back log" is a dream.

If any one is looking for a plug for a good nationally known ISP - I have had good experience with the tech support people at Sprint.

I am sure you find a broker to meet your needs. In fact we just go done bidding against on of those who "claims" they can be anywhere in the country on a 24 hour notice if not accept a penality. What bugs me about this is that the quality they are going to get is going to be crap. Especially since the project manager for this retail chain is a #$#$#$####XX, and is very specific on the way he want these jobs cabeled.
