1) Maybe. URC has trouble with the odd code format used.

2) With the MX-350 and Harmony adapter? Probably nothing.

3) Yes, but in the same way as it's done with the BD remote (any button will turn it on, but to turn it off requires multiple steps with the PS menu).

4) Pretty much anything will be better for use with the PS3 and a non-Harmony remote than the Harmony adapter... but they are starting to get tricky to find. Probably the cheapest option available right now is the RE-BL X: [Link: re-bl.com]

I actually had a chance to try out the setup. The MX-350 learned the Harmony One codes and was able to communicate with the Harmony PS3 adapter without any issues. Power ON and Power OFF worked great.

I now have a working solution!

Thank you for the info thus far! I, like sanjo, am looking to control my PS3 with my new Universal Remote. I have the MX-450. My first search took me to the Logitech station that Daniel initially discussed in this thread. Then, I realized that this would be a headache if not using a Logitech remote.

So, after reading that Sanjo did a work around, I'd like to re-resurrect and act how that was possible for the cheapest $$?

I do like the idea of having my MX-450 turn the PS3 on/off. That'd be great. I do know my safety net is buying the $15 dongle that Nyko makes and having my MX-450 learn that to control, but then would have to power on/off manually.

Any advice?

If you want to power the PS3 on and off, then you need a Bluetooth adapter. URC remotes sometimes have problems with the Harmony, sometimes not, depending on the model. Honestly can't put the MX-450 into either category there.

The Logitech is Bluetooth, yes. The $15 Nyko is not - it's USB based.

URC *does* have the Logitech adapter in their database (under Aux - Logitech), however I cannot say for certain whether that codeset is included in the MX-450. Take a look and see if you can find it. If it isn't there, then you would need another remote to learn the codes from, as the adapter itself is does not send IR.

Otherwise, if you can find one of the other Bluetooth-based PS3 remote solutions, those use standard Sony DVD player codes, which are definitely in the MX-450. :-)
