If you have access to the Philips Pronto "professionals" area you will see a link on the left hand side Service\Beta
There is a link for the beta version of ProntoEdit with Prontoscript , note that the link is broken so you need to add .zip onto the end of the URL.

What is the link where you see this menu option on the left-hand side? I can't see it and want to find out if the stuff is indeed the latest beta code.
Nevermind, found it.

For everyone who might want to download this software, there are 3 parts: Editor, Firmware, and Extender Firmware. If you don't get all 3, there's no guarantee that things will work properly. Currently, the above referenced location ONLY provides the editor. You can download the editor and actually use it but there's no way to simulate scripts in the editor. To do this, you need the remote as well. Also, make backup copies of your configs prior to upgrading them to the new version of software.

Please note: It can take up to 48 hours to provide the requested activation key. Can't any one mirror the file? Or upload it in the file section here? Or post the working link?

Or upload it in the file section here? Or post the working link? This file in question is referenced as a beta version of the software and is only available under the Professionals section at the Philips Pronto site. If Philips wanted to release this software to the masses it would be available under the general download section at the site. Anyone posting a mirror of the file, uploading it to the files section here, or posting a working link should have their access to the Professionals area revoked.

Philips should make their beta's available for all installers. And not make people wait for 48 hours. All they need is: Contact name Country Email address And agree to [Link: pronto.philips.com]Why should that take so long?

Hi,
Have downloaded and installed. I know its only beta but notice still no Vista compatability.
Also have had a quick play with the MCE feature an only getting the sample screen.
Any joy anyone or am I jumping the gun to early??

You are jumping the gun too early regarding MCE support. There is a server application which needs to be running on your Media Center PC as well which has yet to be made available. For more details on this review the "TSU9600 - MCE PC integration" document located in the Professionals section under "Products > Reference Material > White papers > level 2". Also, as Lyndel has pointed out, without the updated firmware for both the remote and extender there is no guarantee as to what will work and what won't at this point.

Calston, it does run on Vista. The install kit needs to be set to XP compatibility mode. But once installed, the editor works fine without needing to be in compatibility mode.

Philips should make their beta's available for all installers. And not make people wait for 48 hours. All they need is: I disagree. Look @ the number of people on this site who whine when something does not work or they have to troubleshoot something. If you get paid to do installs, then you don't want to put the software in front of a customer or spend time isolating whether or not the bug is yours or Philips'. That's why it's called a "Beta" so folks like myself, Daniel, Peter D., Lowpro, and others who diligently test various configurations, firmware updates, extender scenarios, etc... wring out the software so the end-user spends less time isolating if this is a Pronto problem or simple user error. I understand wanting to stay current and ahead of the learning curve. However, since there is no ProntoScript Developers Guide made public as of yet, having the new release will not help you at this point and time as you don't know the APIs of the ProntoScript objects. So, like I've said before, the release is coming, in fact, I just put together a simple pong game tonight on the 9600 by porting JavaScript from the HTML page here. [Link: pscode.com]Please be patient as I believe you will all be very surprised at the robustness.

I am a programmer and beta tester for a lot of products, so I know what I would get, I just don't understand why I can't get the beta's. If you know the api's then there must be documentation. Why doesn't Philips have a signup page for beta testing?

There's no way you are going to be able to download if the firmware in the 9600 does not match the version of PEP you are using.

The link for the beta version of the ProntoEdit Professional now seems to have been fixed on www.pronto.philips.comAlso, the beta firmware updates for the TSU9600 as well as the RFX9xxx shows up on the list but there's no links to those yet. Would this mean that the release of the official version is very close? We'll see during the month of July I guess. SYL20

The Philips Pronto web site ( www.pronto.philips.com ) seems to be down at the moment so I expect somebody's doing some work there. Something good is happening, I can feel it! SYL20
