What's everyone's opinion on the best pda for the money to use as a remote? As well as what you think about amount of memory that might be needed in the future if someone adds functions to allow the pda remote to keep tvguide and auto switch channels/vcr to a preset schedule.
1. Palm Pro at like $75 from ebay (only 2 megs). 2. Palm IIIe around $100 new on net (only 2 megs also). 3. visor $179, new only 2 megs but expandable. 4. Visor Plus $260, new 8 megs and expandable. 5. Palm IIIcxe $250, new, 8 megs and expandable. 6....

Well, I have the Palm Pro with 2 mb upgrade, but the dispersion is the pits........ FYI....... from the posts I read, the OmniRemote extender at least has a 45 degree dispersion, not so on my Palm Pro. The distance is pretty good, but for macros, it sucks cause it can't take in all of my components at once. From what I read, the Visor with the OmniRemote springboard module, or anything with the OmniRemote IR-extender is the way to go. I just wish the IR extender was just a wee bit prettier. Like maybe shaped to round out the end of the Palm instead of a square box......... but if it works, it works. -Greg

I own a Palm IIIxe and a Palm IIIe the range on the ir's are great for my vcr's and tv's but bites big time for my dvd players. I looked at getting the visor but the price lured me to the Palm. If you want to pay the $179(visor)+$60(remote module w/OmniRemote Software)+$20(Ordesktop a must)=$259 plus shipping you get expandability.
Pay $99(Red Gorilla Palm IIIe)+$40(Module+OmniRemote)+$20(Ordesktop)=$159.
If you have the money go for the Visor. I don't have the extra $100+ for the same thing just for an expansion slot.
