What are the potential methods or technological solutions available for enabling IR remote control functionality for Chromecast devices? Additionally, how feasible is it to develop a system where a single Chromecast remote could control multiple devices beyond just the Chromecast itself?

I could be wrong but AFAIK the Chromecast has no IR sensor built in.
It can probably send IR but not receive it.
