I am currently using an MX-850 I have had for years and love it but the hardware is old as is the SW. It is only for my home theater. I am only IR, no RF. I have an MX-780 that I never warmed up to and eventually the OLED screen died. I just bought an MX-990 off ebay but it wouldn't communicate with the PC (my local dealer couldn't make it work either) so that went back today.

My local dealer is going to give me a great deal on an MX-990 but then he noticed there are some deals on the new MX-1400 and MX-4000. I don't think I am sold on the MX-1400 with no number pad as I do still watch some cable. The 990 felt good in my hand but I was intrigued by the old MX-3000 when they came out but have never seen one in person?

Any thoughts on these two remotes, or the wand vs. tabletop formats?

Thanks!
Dennis

I currently have an MX-990 which I really like, but was seduced by the MX-4000 and just ordered one. I'll be posting when I get it and used it.

Having never had a tabletop remote before, I am struggling a bit to come up with screen layouts in CCP I think will work well and I will be happy with. Most of the old videos I could find for the MX-300 were more about the cool animations, than how screens were laid out. I am looking in the files section as there are a lot there for the old MX-3000 that may give me ideas for design patterns.

In playing with the MX-4000 in CCP I see that a lot of the buttons and backgrounds they must have planned don't exist yet. The folders for them are empty. Also I don't see anything in the editor for setting up the voice integration. Wonder if that requires a base station?

Voice integration programming for the MX-1400 is all done on the remote itself. I imagine the MX-4000 is the same way.

Thanks Brad. So what are you able to do with it? For example, can you ask Alexa to run one of the remote's macros to turn on the HT system?

DJ Garcia, I assume you made your own graphics, backgrounds etc. for yours and imported them into CCP since I don't think any of those are in the MX-4000 image gallery. The mx-4000, or the mx-990 would be my first graphical remote. Despite being a long-time software developer, the graphics piece is new to me.

Thanks!

I created many of the graphics, imported device photos, or modified what URC provided. That's a big part of the fun for me! This way I get exactly what I like. Usually stock themes aim at the normal family experience. I'm definitely not normal!
