Hi,

Has anyone found a way to program a button to go directly to YouTube TV on Roku devices? Haven't seen a shortcut button anywere.

Thanks,

As of update 9.3 there isn't one yet. Searching advanced codes(efc) on UEI remote did come up with IR commands for three programmable voice buttons, like 1 & 2 on the ultra roku remote, but there is a third, call it 3. That hold voice search prompt. Like You Tube tv. It doesn't change to YTTV instantly like other discrete app, it announces its changing and there's a count down to when it actually changes. It works on both console rokus and roku tv like tcl.

I do not have pronto hex for these, using Inteset 422-3 remote, using either roku code 03061 or roku tv code 14398 the advanced codes are #1 00038, #2 00040, and #3 00042. Once you have these mapped to keys on the UEI remote, to program them with a voice search prompt, you will need to use a wifi roku remote with voice search key. Speak into the microphone if you like the results you press 1, 2, 3 key on the UEI remote to memorize the search. Once UEi remote has these commands you can teach it to any learning remote you wish. The actual searches are stored in the roku itself, these commands just recalls them.

To map efc to key:

1. roku device key
2. press and hold set or magic for two blinks
3. enter 9 9 4
4. tap set or magic for one blink
5. enter 5 digit code
6. pick a key

Other UEi made remotes with proper setup code are the OFA urc-7880 or Insignia rmt-415. In addition to Inteset 422-3

Hi,

Thanks,

I programmed everything to turn ON (TV, amp) + "youtube" command from database 992 (Roku Ultra). Seems to be working- I just did it this evening.

The OP wasn't referring to You Tube app, which there has been discrete command for years for that, they wanted one for You Tube TV!! Which completely different. YT is free, YTTV cost $65 a month. And even after 9.4 there still isn't a discrete command for YTTV.

I have a Roku Ultra. I programmed the "Learned Button" on the Roku remote to launch Youtube TV. I then "taught" the MX-890 the programmed command using the "Learn IR" feature. It seems to be working.

With Roku Ultra powered on, its remote is wifi and so you can't use it to teach another learning remote. But if you unplug the Ultra its remote would switch to IR and so you can be used to teach. Once you plug the ultra back in, its wifi again for the oem remote. But the ultra will still accept IR commands from universals.

I tried to do this on a MX-780 remote. I can get the roku remote to "Learn" onto the 780 but when testing the command, it does not work.

I used the old non-discrete code workaround. I moved YouTube TV to the first app spot, and then made a macro to send Home, Home, right arrow, ok.

The above does not work any longer because of a Roku update, so they don't respond to efc's for buttons 1,2, & 3 on a UEI made universal remote.

Is this for YouTube or YouTube TV?
