It seems with my new MX-890 I am getting repeating key clicks too quickly at times. I can't pin it down exactly, but this is the scenario.

I am using IR only (at this point). When I control my DirecTV DVR, I get repeated commands occasionally. For example, with the TV Guide up, if I click page down, every once in a while I will get two page downs on the guide. Also, when I click FF, occasionally it will start to FF at X + 1 (X being the expected speed).

Is there anyway to slow down how long it takes for a repeated command to be issued by default? I do not use any repeated commands or button hold down timers (save 1) in any of my programming.

Thanks all...

Did you learn the codes to the remote, or use the IR database ?

I had the same issue with the MX880.

I set mine up by learning all the codes.....

Just try learning the codes, and when you program those buttons, just press and hold down the button until it says OK......

In fact... I used press and hold while teaching all commands......

Mine works as expected now......

if you aren't using codeset 173 from the database, try that first.  it is the only reliable codeset in the database.

OK, so I was able to remote into my home PC and check...

For DTV I use 237 which corresponds to the model HR-34 (Genie) which is what I have...

2 questions...
What model does 173 correspond to?
Will that work with the HR-34?

just type in 173 in the code number.  or you can go to the end of the list where it says DirecTV 1, DirecTV 2, etc.... and select DirecTV 1   or the H21 uses 173, whatever floats your boat.

it will work fine with the Genie.

OK, I made the change to 173 for my DirecTV, and have given it some time. But the same thing still happens (although it seems less frequently).

Any other suggestions?

Did you try what Shelly suggested above? If not, what are you waiting for? :-)

Actually no I didn't... I forgot about that suggestion after I go wound up in the IR DB number change... I'll try to get on that this weekend since it a longer process than just changing a DB number.

Sounds like a plan. Hopefully you won't be able to replicate the issue when using a learned code instead. That's generally the first suggestion I would make in a case such as yours. I personally don't use database codes not that there is anything wrong with that of course. Since my first Pronto I've always learned all the buttons from the particular OEM remote, then acquiring the Pronto Hex online or generating it myself per any discretes that I still need.

My 980 has recently started doing this. But my programming has been in place for over a year, so I don't think it is the remote. It only happens on my HR34. It is not happening on my HR20's, 21 or 24 all of which have 880's controlling them.

I have to wonder if it is something in the new HR34 software.
