RS232 works in standalone macro but not in complex macro? (re: Monoprice HDMI Matrix)

I've just purchased a Monoprice 4x4 Matrix Switch and am using RS-232 commands to control it (with an MSC-400).

When I create a button and have only ONE command (the RS232 change port command) it works nearly flawless. I can press it repeatedly and it works great.

However, when I use it in a larger macro (with IR, RF, and other RS232 commands) it only executes about 20% of the time.

What would cause this?

I'm assuming the problem happens when starting an activity. Do you have the Watch and Listen pages on the remote set to IR and RF? Had the same problem running activity macros, set those pages to IR and RF and problems went away.

Thanks so much for the advice!

However, I do have mine set to IR & RF (With "All" as the output for the RF). :(

I've just connected the RS-232 from the MSC-400 to a PC so I can see exactly what the MSC-400 is sending.

In the stand-alone macro the RS-232 command is sent perfectly.

However, in the more complex macro, the RS-232 is NOT being sent! What would cause this? The macro clearly has my smart trigger (RS-232 command) at the end of the macro.

One more post (sorry!) just to update everybody. (I do this so that hopefully somebody in the future having the same problem could benefit from my testing!)

I think the problem is that I'm sending two Smart Macros from my remote. I'm guessing the MSC-400 is still processing the first one when the second one is sent and thus it is ignored.

I've tested removing the other Smart Macros from my macro and it works fine. However, when I have two Smart Macros then the second one didn't get executed.

Hope this helps somebody in the future...

either
a. put a delay between the smart macros that is long enough for the first macro to finish.
or
b. make a third smart macro and drag the first two smart macros into it.

Maybe posting the actual macro could help us see what the problem might be.
