Why wouldn't you just use the IR input on the back of the receiver?

VERY careful positioning of the emitter I have found!
Also you can emit IR and RF at the same time.

DO TELL! All I can see in the Rf set up is one or the other, no "IR & RF" choice anymore. :o(

Tried that first! So then I went to an emitter, How many times have we found a rear IR port that didnt work! Cant get any reaction via RF. Switch to IR only and no problem. I can see the IR receiver in the Onkyo window, have tried every pot adjustment,

I'm a Denon/Marantz/Integra guy and have never had this problem with them. Also, any of you Onkyo guys know why the source select code doesnt turn on the receiver? Kinda expected that. A clue perhaps?

Had a similar problem, turned out to be what I thought was the IR was not (light sensor). I found it by taking the emitter in my hand and holding it in front of the unit (a few feet) and slowly moving it while I tried commands. It also could be too sensitive and you might have to "not" put the emitter directly in front of the reciever (which can also be determined by holding the emitter by hand). If so, some tape might help.

Black tape with a pin hole over the sensor, then the emitter maybe?
