To whomever this reaches I hope its in good times.

My parents(in Louisiana) recently purchased me(in Claifornia) the MX-980. It was a very kind and generous gesture for a recent military promiotion I received. The only problem as I am sure you can now imagine: I have no software. In going to one of the local San Diego stores I was a bit let down that they wanted to charge me about $120 for the techs time to get the software. I am trying to avoid the time and inconvenience to my parents to have to go back to the store and they are not on the "techi" side of technology.

Is there anyway one herewho can provide the software for the MX-980?

I greatly appreciate your time and efforts, very respectfully Troy

Yeah got ya, I called and the guy said send the receipt for proof. I just don't get it. I may send it back and get a Logitech! This is just to hard for a $600 remote. This company should look into other practices to get the programming software. This really cant be that big of a deal!

Very disappointing!

It's only disappointing if the dealer will not provide it for you. If he sells at retail, he should provide it. If not, return it and buy from someone locally who will supply it. Or, there are a couple authorized sellers here who can help you.

The Logitech is a huge step down so hang in there and get it done!
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

yeah its frustrating for many. the issue is that this unit is NOT intended to be sold at a retail level, but more so by custom installers with a working knowledge of the SW to program it for you. now that being said, if you're looking to program it yourself (as i and many here have) any decent liscenced dealer will sell you the unit with the software and send you on your way. if your dealer is giving you a hard time then he's a crappy dealer and as mentioned you should send it back and buy it from s/one reputable.

however, i wouldnt consider asking you for a fax/email copy of the reciept is by any means giving you a hard time before providing the SW, as you could be any joeblow ebayer just looking to get the SW for free! i would also agree the harmony is a huge step down as far as programability, so i'd definately make the effort to get this unit up and running.

all the best!
