I've seen many posts about the apparent lack of use for
the "On" button on these remotes.

Just ask the client what they think is their most often used source. You know it's probably going to be Cable or Sat. Have the turn on Macro go to that input, and they can easily go back to the watch page to change to another source.

Use variable for this set up and the remote will know what is on and off therfor the macro will run through its commands almost immediatly the only chang will be on the remote face.
