Dear All,

I am using URC MSC-400 to control my Windows Media Center via USB cable.
I dropped 501 & 502 codes in to my TX-1000 remote and got all of the Media Center shortcut keys assigned to TX-1000 buttons as macros. Everything is working beautifully except for the “Display the context menu” option. (Ctrl+D) I tried assigning Ctrl+D macro to both (soft and hard) buttons but it didn’t make any difference, so I am wondering if anybody else ran in to the same problem and has a fix?

Thank you very much.

Does Ctrl+D works on the natural keyboard that comes with the computer?

you can't do CTRL + anything from the MSC. It can't do multi-button functions, unless it's programmed as a single button press in the PC itself. Try changing hotkeys in your media player to a single keystroke button, if you can.

Yes, Ctrl+D work fine with a USB keyboard hooked up.

KCThirstyEar,

Based on your reply, you are not familiar with windows media center os. Shortcut keys listed in the article above are also listed in the Microsoft knowledge base. Navigation shortcut keys were hardcoded in to the operating system and cannot be changed. As I mentioned in my 1st post I have no problems at all sending any of the shortcuts to the media center from my TX-1000 via MSC-400, except for the Ctrl+D shortcut.

Yes you can. I control my SageTV pc from the MSC, and almost all of the shortcuts are CTRL+something. You just put the 501/502 CTRL code in the macro window, followed by the key you want. Note that you do this in the remote editor, NOT the MSC editor. The remote then effectively sends CTRL+key. It's not fool proof - some parts of the SageTV program only see the CTRL key sometimes, but for the most part it works.

URC released an update for MSC-400 which should fix the Crtl+D problem.

Gene, you're right, I did a Live Update and a big patch was downloaded. (People should check their editor as well - there was an update for the MX-900 editor too!)

I'm still unclear as to what the problem was. I have my MSC-400 control my htpc running SageTV. A number of shortcuts are of the type CTRL+(some key). I've had no problem programming my remote for these, as I said above you just do a macro with CTRL (501) and then whatever key is needed. It works! In fact the Play shortcut is CTRL+D.

The only awkward thing about it is the macro; you're not doing explicitly CTRL+key, you're doing:
CTRL
key

But the remote seems to understand what is meant.

Anyhow... it's always worked for me. So, if something was fixed - what was it?

Edit: just noticed the post by Mike from SurfRemote, most people are probably already aware of the updates, d'oh! :-)
