I did a search and didn't find what I need, so here is my issue.

The 900 comes set up with macros that take you right into the device with a tap of the key. I set up some press and hold macros to turn on a few devices and get them to the correct settings. Satellite TV, DVD.

I set them by doing the press and hold drop down menu at the bottom of the macro window and added "3 seconds" in the drop down menu. (I had already set the macros up and saved them, then I went back and did the press and hold routine) In the macro itself, there is no delay as the first step (which I had to do on my 850).

The press and hold macros look to be activated when I press and hold the button down but nothing turns on. I don't understand why.

Do I need to add a delay as the first step?

Since I am using devices on both "Watch" (TV, Sat receiver) and "Listen" (Receiver), do I need to add steps in the macro to reflect each time Ithe macro goes to a Watch or Listen device? (Currently, I just go to the device for the command I want).

Any help will be appreciated.

Whenever I do a macro with the press and hold feature, I always start them with a 0.5 second delay. I don' t know why, but I do and all my macros have worked. I've never written a P&H macro without it so I cannot say if the delay is actually needed or not.

Is it beeping when you hold it down as an indication that the macro has actually started?

This is what I would do. Write the macro as a standard quick macro (that is, no delay feature) and see if it works. If it does, then assign it to a P&H key and check it again. If it works on instant feature but not the P&H feature, your device may be defective, or you have used the menus incorrectly. I love P&H macros and have never had a problem AFAIK.

I noticed something odd when I went back into the 900 Editor. The tabs at the bottom of the macro screen that say "Before" and "After" were blacked out yesterday when I made the macros. Today they were OK.

I deleted what I had and started the macros from scratch (using Before and After) AND put a 0.5 second delay (thanks coachrob!!!) in front of each one. Now they work beautifully.

I don't know which part solved the issue it was, but now they work.
