Regaring having USB connected and powering down the PC.
If remote is docked during a power down of the PC and USB is connected to DS and PC, the battery will be discharged. For me, this happens to me overnight. I'm not sure if the team has put a fix in place for this as of current release.
So, if you power that PC down while remote is connected, remove remote from dock and 3-key it for a reboot (Home Menu Page+). That will prevent battery from draining.
