I've never had my TSU9600's screen activate on its own while in the cradle, but the screen does activate on its own routinely when out of the cradle. This is with the Pick-Up Sensor option set to "Off" while its just sitting on the coffee table or next to me on the couch. Peter and I have commented on this previously here. During the beta test I submitted a bug report for this problem, so hopefully it's something we'll see addressed in a future firmware update.
