The 3000 has a lighting button that is held down while using the page up down to adjust.

Usng this button in conjunction with the page up/down will adjust the screen lighting in only one noticable increment. Previous to the firmware upgrade, there where at least four (I think it was as many five) visible changes in screen lighting.

Using the system tools setting "lighting" made no visible adjustment at all.

As the problem happened immediately after the firmware/editor update, I attributed it to that. If I can identify it as a hardware problem, and know with certainty that simply replacing the LCD will solve the problem, I will not hesitate to order one.

However, I just want to be sure before spending the money. I would rather invest in a color version of the remote than spend money on a problem that can not be solved.
