Did you notice that the new glass top is larger than the old one? With the old one the metal frame of the lcd sat on the plastic tabs which are in the corners of the remote housing to keep it in place. If you did get a larger glass top then it is possible that the glass top itself is sitting on the tabs and will crack. Just file or dremmel back the tabs so the lcd frame is sitting side to side with the tabs not sitting on the tabs.
