Try to connect the unit to the computer without any screen.
If the unit is working it should be seen for you computer
even without the screen.
You have two units in hand. Try John´s screen in your
remote.
Try your screen in his remote. So you can find if he has
a damaged mother board, damaged screen or a firmware corrupted.
I have already tried swapping the screens, and both work in my remote. I read another post somewhere about a hard reset or something and tried that. After about 2 minutes in the dock, 'beep-beep' and now the buttons respond but it still won't talk to the pc at all...as if the USB cable were never plugged in. I now know the mainboard is not toast, just that the little black clip that holds the ribbon cable down is half gone.
