I found the most reliable way to use the Pronto and the Editor on an XP machine was to install the software as "administrator" and always run it as "administrator" - that used to seem to run smoother than before I did it that way. I did that fairly early on after having all sorts of connection problems so cannot be definite it was that that remedied it, but it seemed to.

Also I found that it was best to do any uploading/downloading with the remote on the dock and actually charging.

And finally, I found using a USB port on the PC/laptop as opposed to on a hub, more reliable!
