Your "wants" are what I have. My Theater is fully controlled by a PC and the House by another. The Theater PC controls everything in the theater issuing all IR commands or RS232 sequences for every device. The PC is directed by the iPronto with the basic rule being that the PC wants to know what button on the iPronto was pressed and that is all. All Macros and logic is in the PC. The PC always knows what is on what is off, what is playing etc. It handles CallerID pausing whatever is on the theater (all watching is through TiVo except for DVD and Laser Disk) based on who calles. It controls (indirectly) all lighting in the Theater, and the rest of the house if I ask it to. It makes the world very simple. A benefit of this is that I have no issues with the iPronto as I ask it to do very little, send an IR code when I push a buton; change to a new screen if the button says to do so. It even allowed me to make the hard buttons for channel selection "device specific". I built it so it is non modal but had to violate the non modal rule for "device speific hard buttons". The PC gets a single IR command for each action and does not care where it came from. Lights are controlled by the House PC (They talk to each other via TCP/IP, also without modes). The Theater PC tells the House PC what to do with lights, The house PC tells the theater PC about all phone calls since it controls CallerID for the house.

eMail me at [email protected] for more info or visit www.the-gordons.net (which needs to be updated). My email system will ask you to confirm you are a real person (which 99% of bulk mailers and spammers will not do) to allow the email and future ones to get to me. All others are trashed.

Sorry if this is off topic, but you asked.
