Has anyone tried to use the iPronto to control other devices that are not IR controlled?

For example, let's say I have a security / monitoring camera connected to my home network that is used to watch the kids in the pool when the wife's in the house. Ideally, the iPronto could be used to send messages through NetX to the PC that controls the camera (via it's fixed IP address), and switch the PC's display settings into two-monitor mode to activate the plasma in the family room. Thus the wife can be in the family room or adjacent kitchen and watching the kids on the 50" plasma, without having to go out to the backyard.

This switching requires both IR signals to the Plasma (not a problem), but also messages sent vi TCP/IP to the PC (which would require some service to be running on the PC that could launch some macros).

Anyone tried anything like this?
