I tried setting up my wife's new ProntoNeo earlier this week, the first time I tried to download an NCF from NeoEdit the Pronto went catatonic and would only display the "Invalid CF version or corrupt flash" message that I'm sure that you are familiar with.
I returned that unit to Best Buy thinking that there was an actual problem with the unit, got another one. After a little research, I discovered that the problem that I had is pretty common, and that it might have to do with the serial port on the PC. I used a different PC the second time, with a completely different serial chipset, and after trying to download the default.ncf file (I didn't want to do anything creative until I saw it working) now I have a second broken Neo. Same error message, "Invalid CF version or corrupt flash". Pressing the reset button does nothing. Removing the batteries does nothing.
Is there a fix for this problem yet, or should I just bring this one back to Best Buy and move on to a different manufacturer?
