James. I am learning about jp1 in the hifi-remote jp1 site, and also the Sony codes. Correct me if I am wrong, but jp1 is really only necessary to correct the inflexibility of the UEIC remotes. My URC8800 was expensive and not very adaptable, and if I was still using it I would probably go the jp1 route. Not all people like the big and bulky Sony remotes, but I love my AV3000, especially with the discrete codes making it work better. I try and keep it simple because the people I try and help only want a few discrete codes for their AV2100/3000 to make their lives easier, virtually all of which are readily available in the RS&OFA Universal Remotes site, and are willing to spend the extra $15 to achieve their goals. So, I will try and keep it uncomplicated for the AV2100/3000 Forum, and leave the higher level stuff to this forum.
