There has been a lot of questions about this subject.
What we need to now is what kind of "switch"?
Does it connect to the mains (AC) or does it get its power from batteries? If AC then most likely yes, it can be controlled by a X10 module. However, considering the dangers of working with electricty & gas, I'd suggest that this modification be left up to a professional electrican (Larry Fine you out there).
