I had exactly the same problem - I just traded my RX-V1 for the RX-Z1. The RX-V1 was know to have a bug - preout bridges were "weak" it is called the "channel drop out bug" you can do a quick fix - take an RCA plug & insert in in & out in all the preout jacks & the channels will all come back - Yamaha knew of this problem for a couple of years. - you can get them (under warantee) to replace the bridges with stronger (better) ones.
