I got this reply from HK when i asked about my problems learning codes from my RCA LD player:

(I include the whole conversation)

Hi Anders,

I have just spoken with the TC1000 guru. It seems that this is an unusual
problem, but one we have experienced in the past. Apparently the TC1000 has
a hard time learning commands that utilize rotating codes. Hopefully the
first software update will address this issue. We are expecting the first
update within the next 2 months. Hopefully it will be downloadable from our
website.

I hope this helps.
Sincerely,

Subject: Re: TC1000 - learning

Hello Joe.

I´m holding the remote the right way, so that´s not it...
What i find curious is that the TC1000 has for example the "play" code for the RCA built in, and it works fine. But if I relearn play with the one on the remote the play button won´t work.
Also I have a IR reciever (IRman) for my PC, and it can´t learn those codes.
I can watch the input from the IRman, and the codes seem to be different every time I press the same button !! Strangely enough this is true even for the RCA codes preprogrammed in the TC1000.

I wonder, is it possible to manually edit the .ini file witch
contains the
learned codes, and then send them to the TC1000? I have tried moving
codes
around, and it seems to work. My thought is that if the TC1000 isn´t
able to
learn these codes, maybe this is the way to go...

I will try to contact RCA also.

Thanks for the help.
