First, I know there are a couple threads here that talk about the same subject but they still do not answer the question. I would like to

I recently bought an AV2000 to support all new Sony components in my home theater. I am having trouble programming the remote to support the A/V receiver input select. For me this is a serious problem. The remote is supposed to feel like a custom interface to my components but it does not.

The features page of this product on this website explain that:

"System function buttons can have a signal assigned to them. When you press VCR 1 you can have it it switch itself to VCR 1 mode, and set the amp to VCR 1 (this feature is off by default). Plus, there's a bonus: if you quickly press the function button it only switches the remote to the new component but doesn't send out the assigned signal. To switch the amp you have to "firmly" press the button. "

That is exactally what I want to do and yes, the feature seems to be turned off by default. I am aware of the instructions on page 25 that describe how to "learn" the input select as part of pressing the function button. This does not work because I get "NG" flashing when I try to learn the signal.

I think that I cannot "learn" the signal from my original remote because its signal includes turning the appropriate components on and chosing the appropriate TV and A/V inputs. All I want is the single A/V input select switch.

Finally, my question is: The text from the feature page says this is off by default. Is there any way to turn this off through the remote without "learning" the signal? Also, if "learning" is the only way, is there a way to learn the signal from my original or other remote?

I hope I have adequately described the problem and I will greatly appreciate responses.
