I also have a 50ES, but am using a Fenito FYT-TSR68 (Same as Sunwave 9320) remote and having the same problems...

Anyone know how I can get the Sunwave remote to learn code strings from the 50ES? Or is there another standard remote that will work with the 50ES that the Sunwave will be able to learn from?

Incorrect,

The 2000 will learn the codes. Unfortunatly the
50ES sends a string of multiple codes when you
switch components for example. To learn these
commands, you need to be a little sneaky:

Press and the Vol and Channel up buttons
when the 2000 is off, and press the function key
of your choise. As described int he manual, this
allows it to "learn" a code to send when the button
is first pressed - to switch AV inputs, for example.

On the 50ES rmote, tap the function (CD, DVD etc)
and then blobk the IR port after around half a
second or less. This wayyou only "catch" the first
code it transmits - the code to switch the receiver
input.

Worked like a charm for me.
