This is the type of board I used. But have you tried a new battery? Also make sure you have the correct charger and it is working.

I actually removed the USB socket and made the board even smaller. On one or 2 remotes I made sure one could see the LEDs from the back of the remote. It is nice to know when the battery is fully charged.
