It only has IR for audio & tv's. Just because a roku will switch to IR when the power is off, doesn't mean all brands do. In fact I can't think of another brand that does. Anyways the Chromecast is usually buried behind the tv, not up front like Roku box. Its like pendant hanging down from the hdmi input on the back of the tv, no way an IR commands would reach.
