I have a Logitech Harmony 1100 that I've been relatively happy with for several years. I recently switched from Comcast to Dish and was going through the process of reprogramming my favorite channels and such. At some point the remote said "unable to display content" and refused to function or accept changes. Come to find out this is not unusual and has evidently been ignored by Logitech.

I'm no genius but I'm pretty decent with computers and electronics. I can almost always recover from issues like this but not this time. Though the device seems to be fully intact and I didn't do anything that should have caused a permanent lockup of the device, that is what happened. Done. Bricked.

But I digress...I've come to the conclusion that I'm done with Logitech Harmony remotes - especially if they are still using the same horrible web-based configuration utility.

I'm not really looking into doing home automation or anything that fancy. Basically just running AV equipment and maybe lights. Here's what is in my entertainment rack.

Panasonic GT-50 Plasma TV
Yamaha RX-V1065 receiver
Dish Hopper
Sony Playstation 4
Microsoft XBox 360

What I liked about the Harmony 1100 was that I could macro things so a couple of button presses would fire up everything I needed and get to the desired channel with minimal effort. This is kind of important because my wife is too impatient to learn how to operate menus and guides. Since we got Dish she won't even watch TV unless I'm here because the remote we have requires that she press AUX to turn on the receiver, TV for the TV and SAT for the Hopper box. Then she'd still have to figure out how to get into the guide and find something to watch. It's not worth the effort as far as she's concerned.

So, that's where I'm at. I welcome your suggestions - even if it's Logitech. I'm curious if they have improved or replaced the web interface.

Thanks
