It looks like it's document elsewhere that the the system control buttons (Bottom 1,2,3,4) cannot switch the device mode of the remote?

This seems like a big drawback over the 600 and the 610. Why would I want to do a big system macro, but NOT change the device mode of the remote? Has anyone found a work around for this?
