OK bear with me...

We are a long time RTI dealer and let me first say that I love the ergonomics of their remotes, the simplicity of the software and the provided user interfaces. Over the past 5 or so years we have sold very few systems without some form or fashion of RTI controller.
We have experienced the same T2-C problems as many others have posted on this site as well as our fair share of T4 and T3 problems. At any given time we have 6-8 RTI remotes either in for service or on the way to service (with the majority of them being the T2-C).
We became so disenchanted with the lines reliability issues that we started to look elsewhere but we haven't really found a product that we liked.
When I heard about the Prodigy line from Crestron I was intrigued as we were already a full Crestron dealer. Sadly, we have been disappointed with the Prodigy Remote as well and I don't think I will be looking to it as the potential "RTI replacement" we had hoped. The remote seems cheap, doesn't have a rechargeable battery, has small buttons, and just plain isn't as easy to use as it should be.
I realize the attractiveness the Prodigy processor offers and I know this isn't exactly an apples to apples comparison of products, but after some quick Q and A with some of my trusted customers and family members they have mentioned that they like the looks and feel of the RTI T1-B MUCH better than the standard Prodigy remote.
Sooooo, after my semi-rant my question is this:
How is the reliability on the newer stuff from RTI? Particularly the T3-V and the T1-B and T2-B? We never really spec'd these as we started looking elsewhere right when they were about to be released...
If I start spec'ing RTI again am I going to be sorry?

We've sold 8 or 9 T3V remotes, 5 of them were from the first batch off the line. We had ONE problem with a T3V (DOA) that RTI took care of ASAP. I am personally using one at home and with the exeption of it "yelling" at me (as my Fience calls it) it has been flawless. The "yelling" is an odd double hit of the audio feedback when you press a button... not a big deal and rarely happens.

The T2B has been perfect, we transitioned from the T2+ to the T2B with no problems.

I've only sold a couple T1B remotes, has been solid so far. I've got a couple sitting on the shelf waiting install as I speak. It has a very solid feel to it.

i have looked for other options myself and haven't found anything close to rti. I tried c4 did NOT like it. pronto looks like an okay option but they don't have any inwalls. .Rti stuff may not be perfect but rti seems to be working the hardest to put product out they we need . I have 3 t3-v in the field . Two are working perfectly and one has some dead pixels . the one with dead pixels is a family member and said it been dropped a few times and satt on once . I have 5 t2-c at another job working perfectly for 3 months. I've talked to many people thou that say they have too send remotes back all the time. My biggest problem has been on the back end . Drivers that crashed the xp-8 and zigbee issues . I don't do as many remotes as you. so in small numbers I have had success with t3-v.

Thanks for the replies guys. Its nice to hear from people using these things in the field.
One note I should have mentioned to be fair to RTI is that they were great at taking care of our issues and have usually offered us excellent service. At least from that standpoint we haven't had an issue.

Ditto. T3v are great except for the funky button stuttering (as I call it). Have had a bunch of T2c problems. RTI took care of but what a pain. More bad than good ones. T1B is a great remote, nice feel, no issues.

I agree! Using one at home to replace my iPronto and I love it. Typically I'd go for a touchscreen with the flexibilty to name any button but you can't beat that tactile hard button layout. These T1B's are sweet!

I have to agree with you about the ST7 Innovative AV. I did take the time to check it out at CEDIA and it was a very slick looking unit at an attractive price point. The kickstand and in wall docks were great as well.

I just didn't get too excited because I was sour on RTI at the moment.

The PC Control interface looked nice as well.

Great to hear the comments on the T1-B. I really like the look and feel of that remote as well and if the reliability is good I may "dip my toes back in" the RTI water at least with that remote until I get more feedback on the T3-V etc.

Can't quite agree with tha yet although i'm sooo anxious about that product. we're not sure wether it'd be robust or not but the features it offers are DEFINATELY THE BUSINESS lol so is the design

We are like you at the moment where we love the RTI product when it works. Just having way to many other moments...

Sound like there is some luck with the T3v, the T3 scared me quite a bit. I am not warming up to their battery policies either. They are not friendly for our average consumer to replace. God forbid they take apart a T2+ the way that battery connection was designed...

Gotta agree with you there.....I can't tell you how many times a customer pulled the little battery connector completely off.

The majority of the problems I've had with RTI products (from a history of a couple years working with them), the majority of the problems I have had are battery related. Very few other problems.

There is the customer with the T2+ that has kids that wear cleats in the house when they have sleepovers. Two broken screens from that customer so far.

You may take a second look at Prodigy. They are discontinuing the PLX2 and have a new package that will be a PMC2+PTX3, starts shipping the end of this month. This will also open up the Infinet lighting expanding the system from controllable switches up to 100.

The more I work with Prodigy the more I like it. If you are already Crestron Dealers then you'll like it even more. We are very limited being Prodigy only, not only to products but also to training.

Oh and the projected MSRP for the PMC2/PTX3 combo will be $1000-$1100. The PAMP is shipping now as well, rounding this out as a very competitive system that can do more than the competition.

We are Niles dealers and I was comparing to ZR6 and Nuvo Essentia G with either an RTI or URC solution for the media room and the Prodigy system stacks up very nicely with more flexibility and growth potential.

Oh, don't forget iPhone/Touch App, Xpanel and remote access.
do wino hue?
