I'm new to RTI but I'm not new to remote programming my company just recently purchaced a M2 so I took it home to hammer on it the reason why we got the M2 is that it's similar in price to the MX-850

first thing i noticed is that there was no last channel hard button

second thing i noticed is after pressing the light button not only does the remote light up but it also hums

don't get me wrong I think I like rti's remotes and to be honest I'm trying to get away from home theater master remotes i found there tech support recently to be quite rude and unsupportive

so please sell me on rti let me know what you like and what you don't like

Hum Bars

I love RTI but I don't care much for the M2. I would prefer to pay a bit more for rechargable batteries. I also found it too hard to read what was on the screen.
For a "last button" you could just make an icon and attach the command to it.
You also notice that there's no skip back button either.
I think the T2+ is a more convienent remote if the budget allows for it.

I use the star on the lower left under the numbered keypad.

It's the switching power supply singing. No problem.

I sell RTI and MX line of pc programed remotes, personally I prefer RTI because the software blows the socks off of the other company. Also I only sell color lcd remotes because I have more flexibility with the user interface which makes for happy clients.

An MX remote is only sold to budget minded customers. For example for a simple 1 room configuration I would not sell an an RTI M2 but an MX-810 instead. Anything complex gets an RTI T2-C or higher.

It's a crying shame your new to RTI and you started out with this remote. Don't get me wrong, it has it's demographic, but if you want a great remote try a T-3, T2-C, or T-4. Yes, the price point is greater no doubt, but you will be able to really get creative and have a larger "canvas" to learn on.

Ditto here. I keep the MX850/900 for budget folks; the M2 would require a higher priced processor for RF, so the MX series is more budget oriented.

For a nicer remote try the T2c. If you can afford to carry one around and show to clients, it will sell itself in a heartbeat.

Thats for sure, we took one out to a client and they loved it, Installed the system a couple days later, the next morning after we were done and they had a cahnce to use it they called and asked if we would do a few more..Kitchen, Master bed and guest bed..we stepped the guest bed and kitchen down to T1's as all they had were basic sat, dvd and TV so no need for the extra stuff...and this was thier old home, talking about having us come to the new house to rework the system and add remotes

all from showing them the remote and explaining what it would do for them

Yes, but then you can't really upgrade them with additional equipment later.
