J,
You need an IR to X10 converter (IR543) to use the 1994 with X10. Go to the X10 forum for more info.

Hope this helps,

Thanks from Canada

Wow, this group is huge. Anyways, just purchased a 1994 and I love...however, it does not control my JVC Echostar Dish 500 satellite receiver. I run out of memory when I have to program everything in. Anybody out there have suggestions? I would hate to return this remote!

I also have purchased a 1994. I returned the first one back to RS because it didn't contol my RCA DSS. However, after reading some of the items on this thread I was able to find the code for it (0392). Now I am a believer!

Through all these messages, I remember someone talking about programing specific buttons for video input vs. scrolling through them. I am programming my Macros and it would be helpful if there are codes out there. I have a Hitachi High Definition television with the S-video cable running directly from the DSS receiver. All other video and sound inputs are handled through my Yahmaha receiver. Any help would be appreciated.

The thread has been very helpful and I will let my friends know about it!

Ajotto: link to the thread that Arjen posted above: [Link: hifi-remote.com]. Better yet, if your Hitachi or Yamaha remotes can send the discrete signals for inputs, then your 1994 can learn them directly if you cannot find the code. ... Mike

I have gone though 4 sets of batteries for this remote since I bought it three weeks ago. Is this normal?

Thanks

D.P.: NO, that is definitely not normal. I have had my 1994 and used it regularly for nearly a year, and haven't had to replace the batteries yet. I would try to exchange it. ... Mike

TO: D. P.

Had the same problem with 1 of two 1994's that I bought. Something internally was on all the time draining the batteries in a week or so. Radio Shack took it back and replaced it without question.

Bought this remote yesterday and am impressed. I have three problems that I would like to solve:

1. I was able top get the AUX1 key to control my Yamaha Dolby Digital RX-V992 receiver. But for some reason, the power key will not turn the receiver on or off. Is there a way around this? I'm thinking maybe its because the original receiver remote has two keys (One for on, one for off) to control this function. I'm out of luck if these functions can be learned by the macro keys because the original receiver remote is broken.

2. Is it possible to transfer the "Plug n' power" key to control another device? I've tried this, but can't get the remote to accept any codes.

3. I can't get the backlit time to increase despite following the instructions at the site Arjen mentions above. Anyone else having this problem?

OK....I was able to solve problem #1 by assigning advanced codes to the Smart Keys.

But I still can't solve the other two problems...
