Also, I want my pre/pro input to switch inputs and the remote to switch control to the corrsponding device at the same time (wouldn't this be what most people would want 90% of the time?).

What's the most efficient way to program this?

Maybe I don't need the MX-500 after all!

Thanks

I have read about 90% of this thread (only took about 5 hours), and I am ready to buy a 1994 mostly because of the excellent support group here. Before I run out and make the purchase, I want to know if any other 1994 owners have my components and how well the remote has worked. Here are my components:
Receiver: Yamaha RX-V596
DVD: Pioneer DV-C503
VCR: Panasonic PV-4620
TV: Emerson (model unknown)

I am mostly concerned with the receiver and dvd player.
Thanks for the help,
mark

Will this work on a Bose Wave Radio? If so, I need the code.

I just bought a 15-1994 remote. It works great for everythign except my Sony STR-DE1015G Receiver! The listed codes don't work and I can't seem to find a code using search (I am using the AUX2 device key, is this ok?) I tried using the learn function but the 15-1994 does not seem to want to learn most of the functions of the Sony remote (model #RM-H501). Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

HELP!!
I've got 1 15-1994 and I dropped it!
The little transformer broke loose from the PCB and the little (finer than frogs hair) wires all broke! :(
There is NO value listed on the transformer, the PCB just says "T1"
My keypad no longer lights up with that way cool blue anymore and it sux to have to turn on the light everytime I want to do something! Rat Shaft says I'm SOL since it's OOW and they won't help me in anyway other than offering to fix it for the same price I paid for it NEW! Scr*w that!
Can anyone tell me where I can get a new transformer and what to ask for, OR, is there a way to replace it with something different that will do the same job, like a 7809 or something? Since it's broken I can't get any kind of reading from it and have no way of knowing what it was or should be.
Thanks a million!
Please email me if you can help,

Hey JohnWayne, bummer on the broken 15-1994. In theory you’re not SOL. Howerver in practice you most likely are SOL big time. That little puppy is a step-up transformer, it's used to fire up the "indiglo"-type electro-luminescent strips that lights your keys (it uses high voltage, low current to run the “lights”). When you ask about replacing with a 7809, are you talking about a voltage regulator? If so, I don’t think that’s the right approach. Bottom line you need to find a transformer with the exact same specs and that aint gonna be easy! Best bet? Buy another 15-1994 and do the ol’ switcheroo. In theory this would work. However, in practice it would be unethical! …it would be unethical to rip off RadioShack, that is. Good luck.

Hey gang, I have a question for you. I am out of my element here so be kind to this ignorant one. Would I be able to operate a Kenwood 1090vr Home theater receiver with this remote. I just bought a new Panasonic VCR (model PV-4611) that my Kenwood remote is not compatable with (per a LONG conversation with Kenwood tech support, they told me that the VCR was "next generation" and not compatable). Does this sound like BS to you guys? I need to control:
1)Kenwood 1090vr receiver
2)Panasonic PV-V4611 VCR
3)RCA DSS receiver
4)Hitatchi television.
I would like to find a remote that will operate all components on a poor man's budget. I do appreciate the help! Thanks, Keith

Keith, Radio Shack has a 30-day return policy. Pick up a 15-1994 and see how many of your components it will support. It's a great remote, and I think it's still on sale for $29.95. If you like the remote but it doesn't control all your devices, checkout the homemade box you can build to add new device support, at:

Keith, I would recommend that you get the One For All CInema 7, it costs between $25 and $30, and it should work all of your components, and if there are any buttons missing, you can program them with advanced codes (before you ask, details are on my site)

Just FYI, as great as the 15-1994 is, it lacks a code for the Kenwood, so you would have to go the route that Glenn mentioned to programt he Kenwood on a 15-1994.

Rob.

Greetings,

I'm a new (and very pleased) owner of the RS 15-1994, and to help me and my roommate keep track of the remote's setup, I've made a doc sheet with a full diagram of the remote with space for recording what the buttons do for the various devices, plus room to describe macros.

You can download the PDF file (Acrobat req.) at [Link: shoutingman.com]

Suggestions are welcome.
