Can anyone explain why my USB port is not seeing the TSU3000? I get a "Pronto not connected to your computer" error. Both devices work fine, but not together!

What version of windows are you using? In the Pronto 3000 files section under documentation read the article on Connection Problems and see if any of it applies.

Check the document I referenced above....

Some Pronto TSU3000 owners may experience difficulties connecting to their remote control in ProntoEdit NG. Many of these issues can be traced back to running Microsoft Windows 98 First Edition, which only supports USB 1.0, while the TSU3000 requires at least USB 1.1 to function. Windows 98 Second Edition or later is required for full USB 1.1 compatibility.

At first glance this seems like a cop out. It sounds like the sort of BS and misinformation I see a lot of. My BS meter went off the scale at that. There are hardly any differences between the USB 1.0 standard and the USB 1.1 standard.

However in this case its dead on. Pronto manages to make use of the one significant difference between the USB 1.0 and 1.1 specs. (Specifically "Interrupt Out Transactions".)

Its been so long, I'd almost forgotten about things like that.

It's sad but true. You have to have 98SE (or higher)to get it to work it seems. I thought I had been running SE for years but it turns out I had the disk and never installed it. So I upgraded and everything works now.

If you have a $250 touch screen remote and a 6 year old operatin system then you need to check your priorities.

@Pahtcub

What can I do for my "priorities" when I own a very old color printer ($600), plus a lot of other old PC accessories... and all without any driver for ME, 2000 or XP...??

Do I have to throw away everything just because I also own a $250 new remote...?? I don’t think so... and it has nothing to do with "priorities"... :-)

BTW, PENG is working really fine with 98SE...!! ;-)

I disagree. Until I downloaded the software for the ProntoNG, I owned no software that didn't run just fine on my PC using Windows 95. Upgrading software just for the sake of staying current makes no sense.

To me, I had to consider the cost of the ProntoNG as $350, because I had to factor in the additional cost of upgrading to WindowsME (I would have needed additional hardware if I went to XP), becauyse that's the only thing that really needs it.

Oh dear god please don't upgrade to ME. I beg you. I don't even know you and I beg you! If you have to upgrade go with 2000. But pleeeeeeease don't get ME.

So you bought a $600 color printer and it has no updated drivers??? Sounds like you got robbed, but anyway, I'm not here to start anything, but it's like when I go install high speed internet on someones 95 since they want everything THE BEST, but yet they still have a pent1 running win3.1, and then they complain that it doesn't work or isn't that fast, just gets on my nerves. And Bill: Actually upgrading software to stay current DOES make sence. If what you're saying is true then upgrading the firmware wouldn't make any sence either right? It's basically the same thing. Sounded like a contradiction to me, but you know how the internet is you can't tell inflection in writen words.
