Is there now a $50 rebate on pronto's? I just got mine about 2 weeks ago... Can I get a rebate too?

Tom -

No, there is no rebate. If you re-read the above messages, Eric and Kevin are offering $50 off if you mention that you saw their ad here.

Hate to do the "Me Too" thing, but... I received my Pronto from Cartronix a couple of days ago. Great price and service. I hope Philips realizes
the great publicity that Cartronix is creating for them!

Hi Guys,

Does cartronix sell the Pronto w/o the docking? If so, how much for the unit and S&H?

Thanks,

TT

Yes, or at least they did when I purchased couple of weeks ago. I think the price was $299 plus shipping which for both (with docking) was $15 for me.

To Cartronix,

A big Thanks for the great customer service. I received my Pronto yesterday as promised for the offered price (including Docking Station).

Keep it up. Hopefully Philips understands the concept of a "free market", offers & service (and the difference it can make to us).

Buy your Pronto at Cartronix!

I just picked up the Pronto and the charger for less than $349.00 as Dan Jordon stated in this e-mail. The service was very friendly and very helpful folks. If you need one, call them as they did not have many of them left.

Here is their info:

A word of warning on net advertising of a device that is protected by retailer agreements. If you are caught selling across other regions, which mena shipping into or advertising within, you may lose your right to carry that line of products. Not just the remote, but the whole ball of wax. I know, I am a retailer and this is enforcable. In additoin, I dont want to be supporting folks who buy the Pronto or the Marantz really cheap and then take up alot of our valuable time to give them a hand. We do extensive programming on elaborate remotes like Crestron and such with the Pronto and the RC5000 being the starter. The Programming and customization of the remote can exceed the price of the unit by double. Please support your local retailers. They can provide you with service and techical support for not alot more.

HiFiGuy and Phillips have apparently never heard of the FTC, Sherman, Robinson-Patman, or Clayton Acts.

I believe that cutting off "co-op" payments for below MAP advertising is legal, but cutting off product shipment for below MAP sales is a violation of the Sherman Act, among others.

There are also antitrust issues involved with restricting mail order sales.

Screw your local dealers, unless you feel they will provide support equal or exceeding the cost savings you would otherwise enjoy.

If mail order buyers go into a local dealer for support, it's a perfect opportunity for that dealer to make some money selling services.

You may be right about all the laws, but you're missing the point: Retailers LOVE these agreements; they are protected from "predatory" pricing. And so far, there has been no successful prosecution under any of the laws you describe. Have the feeling that their lawyers did it up right.
