Lars,
what required .dll file are you referring to, and why is it required?

thanks.

The CCFDll.dll file which you can get from the Olivier Couvreur's CCF Tools which I downloaded from the file archive where SNL is. I assume it's required, since SNL gave me a message that it is when I ran it the first time without it.

Is it too much to ask to have it find the Macro panels as well?

SNL in its current form will never support MacroGroups, that is, unless Leo Davidson decides to add support for them (He's the author of the B&W version).

The other "bug" I have found is that similarly
to importing a Pronto CCF into Marantz Touch Screen
Setup, I have found that the Hard Keys settings
actually copy the wrong keys!
I tried to
set my CD list to use the same hard keys as the
Receiver (for volume) on my RC5200, but it picked
the wrong ones (Mute and Channel Up I think, as
if it were the Pronto layout)! I double checked
it and it says it's right!

The "bug" to which you refer is a Marantz TSS bug when upgrading a CCF from a RC5000i or Pronto to the RC5200/9200. Use CCFTools to do a mass edit to reset your hardbuttons back to where they need to be.

All,

If you are using the Marantz remotes, you will want to download the latest CCFDLL.DLL from CCFTools. Do not use the CCFDLL.DLL you download from this site. Download CCFTools, then go update the DLL from http://[email protected]

Those who jump in head-first without first reading documentation(I'm sometimes guilty as well) probably missed the following section copied as written from the Version 2.0.0.1 documentation.

Version Compatibility with Previous Versions

This version modifies Version 1.x “SN_LIBRARY.XML” and “SN_DEVICES.XML” files. They update automatically. However, should you run an older version following the update, you will lose any Version 2-specific settings. You will have to edit again in Version 2 and redo all your settings. Before beginning, it is always a good idea to backup your existing configuration files in case you need to revert to an older version.

SNL requires the Compiler/Decompiler DLL (CCFDLL.DLL) from CCFTools. You may download this file from http://ccftools.free.fr.

The Official SuperNudelist web site has moved to http://www.theheartofthecorporatebeast.com
For installation instructions, you should visit the SNL site.

Please visit the SNL site for version history.

Please Read the Manual as alot of time was spent in documenting all changes from the B&W original version to the new color version.

Regards,
Lyndel

My only question/request/problem is getting track
information from CDDB/Gracenot/FreeDB into SNL.

Why not use the Import feature to import CSV files? It's there and ready to go. To see how it works, take an existing list and export it selecting all columns. From there, you can get an idea of the format required for an import.

As far as my help to disect the list, simply have your program modify SN_LIBRARY.XML to replace all artists/discs as they exist under a 'Volume' (The XML term for 'List'). If you use VB, MSXML3 is the way to go.

Feel free to write your own program. I did. I use MSXML3, VB, and setup cattraxx to use the 'custom' fields available in an Album for SNL Information. My program moves all data from cattrax to the SNL List format in the click of a button. Then, I simply have to run SNL to get the final CCF.

My program will not be made available for public consumption because there is a specific format required for the cattrax database information. I don't want to introduce support nightmares as users modify their cattraxx database with MS Access.

I will however provide details on my custom fields so that others who use cattrax might do the same. Email me if you want more information.

I have been using the original version of SNL on my phillips pronto pro for some time successfully. I have just downloaded your SNL 2 and the most up to date version of CF tools. I can by going into advance options change the colour of the text and numbers on the buttons but when I select the different alphabet panel or try to change the colour of the button bars it stays as the original i.e. the black nail buttons and the grey and black button bars. Am I doing something wrong?

I am a first time user of SNL, and have downloaded the latest version and CCF Tools. Having applied average IQ, common sense and good will, and having followed the Quick Start Guide V 1.0 to the letter, I still cannot get SNL to do anything (other than crash my PC badly). What am I doing wrong?

I have set up the Player (which is a JVC 200 CD changer) which required very little work as SNL worked out most of the required actions itself.

I then created a list (I think - the QSG couldn't help with that) containing two CD, with artist names CD title and tracks entered.

I then pressed execute. I received a number of warning about already existing buttons, but nothing I really understood. It kept referring to Lines, but don't know what they are. Would be better if it referred to Devices, panels and button names I think.

When the process was finished I received a message that there was no ouput from my list CDs (which was the name of the one I created above) as it was empty.

The newly created CCF seems identical to the original one. Has something gone wrong or am I an idiot? I cannot really see the purpose of this exercise. Wasn't SNL supposed to make a new Device, which would have panels and buttons for different CDs and Tracks in it?

I admit that I am not a native English speaker, but I am usually able to understand what I read. What have I missed?

Hi

SNL checks for multiple appearance of like named buttons but those warnings are no problem as long as they are not mapped in SNL EG: suppose you had two buttons named tom in the same device SNL would warn you about that , as long as tom is not mapped in the player you created in SNL as a reference there would be no trouble.

If you have no entries in your list SNL will not generate a device, place a couple of test names in your new list and that should generate an output.

Barry,

The Advanced List Options Dialog colors control ONLY the text colors on buttons/frames. In order to get rid of the black/gray bars/buttons, you must supply BMP files in one of the BMP_Override folders.

Read the HTML document supplied with SNL for Icon Management. You will have to create a subdirectory specifically named for your Remote Type and then place images in there. Yes, you may have to polish off that graphics program and create some images. If you need some graphics, Carl Sr. may have some to share.

Version 2.0.0.1 contained Color and B&W images for the Notes and Disc Layout. However, you must extract these files into the appropriate subdirectory before using.

For more information on advanced icon management, please read the docs. I think you might find previous posts in this thread from "Dag" (David Garing) helpful.

Problems Adding Discs to Lists

Some of you are having problems entering Discs in a List as the Jump-Start doc ends there. Please see the following thread for information on the design of the 'Edit/Add Disc' dialog that, by the way, has not changed from the original B&W version.

Help with List Imports/Exports...

Using Export and Import for SNL

If you have disc data available from another program and this program is capable of exporting a CSV (Comma Separated Value) file, with a little tweaking you can import this data into SNL. Here's what I suggest.

Create a list, add a single disc/artist plus tracks. Then, from the Edit Lists dialog, press 'Export' Select CSV and then choose a file name. Click 'Next'. Then, Select all entries on the next screen (check box by each) and ensure that the values are number from 1-13. (I believe that there are 13 columns).

When you complete this exercise, you should then be able to open up the CSV file you just generated with Notepad or some other text editor and examine the format.

Once you know how SNL exports data, you can then reverse the process and 'Import' from a CSV file specifying by specifying a mapping of the columns in a CSV to SNL fields.

Using SNL to control multiple DVD/CD Changers

The key to a successful setup is to define a "Player" for each of your changers in SNL. Then, when you add a disc to a List, the proper IR codes for your device are invoked through the "Player" associated with the disc.

Finally, what makes it really nice is following a disc selection, you want to jump to a panel in the corresponding Device such as Transport or Menu.

What you will need to do is in the "Edit Player" dialog is to specify a 'Jump' to the target panel of the respective device. Leave the 'Jump' on the 'Edit List' dialog unspecified. If you should specify a 'Jump' in the 'Edit List' dialog, this 'Jump' overrides the 'Jump' in 'Edit Player'. Only use the 'Jump' in 'Edit List' if you are 100% sure that all discs in the List are assigned to the same "Player"

For all you viewers out there, you will see that I've started a 'tips' section to this thread. If you would like to see these moved to another thread, please indicate such. Otherwise, I'll keep posting here.

These tips often come from responses on other threads but I think it will help everyone if they are consolidated to a single location.

If you have a tip to share, please post in the following format:

Title for your tip that
May span multiple lines (In Bold)
and possibly a very terse description

A verbose description of the scenario followed by the procedures to follow. For an example, please see my last 2 posts to this thread.

Hopefully others will begin to post tips as well.

Version 2.0.0.3 will contain an option to copy color settings from one list to another inside your library. When it is available, I'll be posting a tip instructing how to share your settings and images with others.

Lyndel, YOU THE MAN!!! How cool SNL is!! I just got a Sony CX355 CD Jukebox today, and have SNL up and running already on my RC5200. It is just too cool to have the ability to choose a song from any of the 300 discs and have it played immediately, with very little disc and track info programming needed. I have ordered a DVD Jukebox, and can't wait to get my DVD's programmed as well. Expect a donation!! What a cool program! Keep up the good work.

A little help...
I'm trying to execute snl (I've set up my player and list - I exported my list from DVDProfiler). In the execution dialog it tells me it's 'Writing BMP icons'. Immediately after it finishes this I get an error box titled 'Super-Nudelist Error' with the error message ''.

Can someone point me in the right direction here.

Thanks.
Brad
