I have a system with the following:

3 x MX-850
3 x RFX-150
2 x MRF-300

This stuff is zoned so different rooms control different H-20 DirecTV SAT receivers.

I have:

Turned the emitter power up, down and everywhere in between
Moved the emitter all around the eye
Messed with the levels on the RFX-150's

and I still get erratic behavior - arrows working sometimes and not others, number buttons working sometimes and not others, etc...

Every other device, audio receivers, dvd players, etc...works fine...

Please Help.

This is not my first rodeo with remote control issues and i am completely stumped...

Thanks ahead of time....

Codes are solid with line of sight IR, right? If not, start there.

Have you tried masking with opaque material between flasher and the pickup?

How about masking with a pen tip sized hole and then placing emitter?

None are plugged into port 6 correct?

I'd start with that for certain. Then would also verify with 1 antenna and 1 mrf 300 that stuff works. Then add back 1 piece at a time testing for reliablility after each additional piece. I'd be looking for interfernece in 1 of the antennas.

I had a situation with a DTV box and the mx-3000 and mrf-300 where the line of sight worked perfectly yet RF was spotty. I tried all of the above and a few other things. I finally turned out that the codes in the database were the problem; because when I learned the codes in from the original remote it worked great.

I Used the codes for the H-10 in the database, they worked perfectly for me. I had the same trouble with an MRF 300 though. Emmitter output strength on all six outputs is the same on the MRF 300. It's the H-20 that is the problem. It's being oversaturated. Black electrical tape with 2 small holes punched in it worked for me. It took 4ever, but i got it!
Don't forget to turn the IR off on the remote.

It sounds like IR oversaturation. Move the emitter further away and try decreasing the IR output on that line. Also, address the flasher for that device, so that the other emitters are not being triggered at the same time.

Thank you,

I had the same issue with one of my directv boxes. Moving the emitter further away did not help. Decreasing the output on that line did not help. Turning the emitter around (backwards/upside down) did not work. What DID work was mounting the emitter so the it was about 1 inch "in front of" the eye. It is directly over the eye but there is about one inch of air between the emitter and the eye. Hope this helps. I tried this method after reading about success with this workaround in one of the threads here. Can't remember the thread or the poster or I would give them their kudos. Now it works about 99% of the time which seems like heaven compared to the erattic behavior I was experiencing before. Mx850 and mrf300 are a great combo..... when they work.

I have had the same experiance. Have done the VCR flasher like setup a few times and it worked better. Hvae something taht holds the emitter out about 1 inch from the window.. works for Tivos.

The flasher eye has to be placed stuck to the shelf the sat box is on about 1" to 2" in front of the sat box in line with the eye on the H-20 -- Works every time!

I ended up abandoning this altogehter....Ended up replacing with xantech IR system. This makes several times I have not been successful with these (mrf-300's). I never seem to have these issues except with things that recreate the IR, like "insert mrf here" and the Ipronto 802.11 box. It seems when IR is just passed and not generated stuff works great...customer quite pissed I might add...teach me to go out on a limb with new stuff.

I've never had a problem with MRF300 and H20, but I'm dying to run into it, because I want to try something. Maybe some of you could try it and report back.

When you have an IR overload situation, try cutting one wire in the emitter and place a 100 ohm resistor in series. We have to use 100 ohm resistors on CK1.2 keypads when running an emitter right off the keypad, otherwise too much signal is sent to the emitter and the B&K CT610 doesn't get enought signal to operate.

Just a suggestion, but try it and report back.

We had A simmilar problem on the showroom where we had two Rfx150's and one mrf300. It turned out that the rfx needed to be turned down so that the rf only went to one of the rfx's not to both. Overlaping coverage.

I have been using Scotch® Wall Mounting Tabs 7220 for some Directv HR10-250 HDTV / Tivo receivers. These tabs are gray foam with sticky on both sides, the foam blocks the excess IR. I use those and turn the emitter up about 1/2 way works great.
