I had the same issue with one of my directv boxes. Moving the emitter further away did not help. Decreasing the output on that line did not help. Turning the emitter around (backwards/upside down) did not work. What DID work was mounting the emitter so the it was about 1 inch "in front of" the eye. It is directly over the eye but there is about one inch of air between the emitter and the eye. Hope this helps. I tried this method after reading about success with this workaround in one of the threads here. Can't remember the thread or the poster or I would give them their kudos. Now it works about 99% of the time which seems like heaven compared to the erattic behavior I was experiencing before. Mx850 and mrf300 are a great combo..... when they work.
