I just read your thread in the HTM forum [Link: remotecentral.com]

If you don't mind changing platforms the Prontos have a good history of surviving spills from liquids (one of the Prontos at work had a drink of coffee and if you do a search you will find many Prontos having had other liquids even wine).

I was going to say this in my reply to your thread, but I did not feal like starting an argument in the HTM forum, and I know how much you liked your 1000.

LOL Greg and Anthony,
The only arguing that goes on at the HTM forum is between the MX500 and MX1000 people (MX-500 folks seem to be winning that one). edited here> (revision): Actually, most of the arguing is between the happy MX-1000 people and the unhappy MX-1000 ones!
I think I would love the Pronto, but I insist on a 5-way pad or joystick and a few obligatory hard buttons. With that in mind it seems that only the Marantz fits the bill at over a grand, yes? I do believe that there will be one in my future though, especially if I get a mega CD/DVD changer. (Is there enough memory in those remotes to have a CD cover for a couple hundred CD's or movies with macros for each?) <---I'm probably dreaming here!
I love fooling with these cool remotes and I can afford to keep a few different ones around as long as my gal would quit falling asleep in the wee hours of the a.m., with the remote in one hand and a glass of Chardonney in the other, while watching her favorite chick flick!
In the meantime I may get an MX-500 to try while I wait and see what the 700 is going to do. I'll probably wait a bit on replacing the 1000 to see what improvements are made with the promised software enhancements.
I wonder if Daniel would consider including an immersion test in his reviews? Ha!

I don't know about the Marantz. But like I said the old design did withstand some drinking binges :-) just search the Pronto forum. The worst was if liquid fell between the hard buttons, but even then I have not heard of any remote dying from it (less alone a ruined screen. Some people have used cover art for their DVDs
He has around 125 jackets and 70% free (on a Pro) and the Marantz has more memory then the Pronto, the only thing to remember is that it takes a lot of work to do something like that.

That looks great Anthony! I think the ultimate entertainment remote should be able to do that with full graphics.
I must compliment you and some others who participate in many of these forums. Like you, I visit all the forums here (some more than others), and it is quite an education. I have learned so much about remotes, X10,home theater and vocabulary too. lol

lol! Yeah, like his "internationally ignored and scientifically unappreciated Menacing Thick Fluffy Blanket (MTFB) analysis" he can add the DBW (dirty bath water) and see how many dunks it can withstand before pressing a button makes your cat scream.
