So they are happy that they cannot go to the town without fear of another car bomb going off & killing 50 or 60 innocent people? They are happy to be living in absolute terror? This is the concept you have yet to grasp. They are HAPPIER than they were. Their terror is not as absolute as it was. THIS IS BETTER. I spent 2 1/2 years in Tehran and I have been to Iraq, Afghanistan, and most of the middle east. You have no right to speak for these people. In Tehran the majority of the population was much happier under the Shah than Komeini, eventhough it wasn't what you would consider perfect. Sitting ducks?
Riding through the towns in poorly armored vehicles with shooters up on the rooftops and in the hills just waiting ... yeah that's pretty close to being a sitting duck. Sure we shoot back - when we know where and when to shoot.
For those of you that think "we'll kick their asses in Iraq & it'll be done" may not realise that Al Quaida have active cells in all of the major countries now...
So even if Iraq and Iran were flooded out by the melting ice caps (Global Warming)... there are cells of these jokers in N. Korea, Africa, Arabia, South America, The UK, France, The U.S. -- so putting all of our eggs into a blow sh*t up in Iraq plan isn't going to accomplish much.
This ain't the wild west... This is the wild, wild, wild middle east and reading your posts so far about your mishaps and global warming tells me you have very little idea of what you are talking about. As I said, I have lived there. I speak Farsi and I have friends who are working as contractors there at this very moment. I know what i'm talking about.

Really? So we didn't try and convict the terrorists that bombed the twin towers in 1993? Didn't pursue the bombers of the Cole, of Kohbar Towers, or the Marine barracks in Beruit? Or arrested, tried convicted and carried out the sentences of our own domestic terrorists McViegh and Kozinski? The best job we did was McVeigh and Kozinski. We have done very little against foreign terrorists. Please don't cite history without getting the facts right. Google can be your friend. FU you sarcastic SOB. What's your solution? TALK to them?

Agreed, this is NOT going anywhere useful. One more personal attack by anyone and it's closed.

Thon, Does this make you happy?? Yes. Stop being abusive to other members... As soon as they stop being ignorant and abusive to me. You get irritated when you have to deprogram a client who has been brainwashed into buying Bose don't you? Well, now you know how I feel. P.S. I have picked up that you are a disti person, but you get the idea.

This is exactly the type of thread that drives away valued contributors, and alienates potential new pros enough to prevent them from bothering to participate here....
Unless you want Ali to be the only one who answers any of the actual posts regarding CI, this section needs to be mellowed out a LOT...

OK, I'll take them in the order I read them:
2nd Rick: acknowledged, just curious, what is your capacity now? As I said, I was just trying to make a point.
Q: I agree with your statement, but HUH? He was being sarcastic and it pissed me off.
2R: I disagree, I think this kind of unadultered open debate atracts thinking people. It may alienate non-thinking weenies, but who cares?
ed: I agree, Owen sounds like a reasonable person. I disagree that he likes facts, he sounds like he likes what makes him feel good about himself. I will be spending next week in Colorado. I'm going to track him down and stalk him for a while, then I'll decide. Just kidding. I am going back to CO, but I have no interest in crossing paths w/ Owen.
Final note: I don't make a habit of destroying people's beliefs, it's just that, on this particular issue, I believe I have a little more insight. I understand the frustration. It is very similar to Reagan and the Cold War. People were very frustrated with him, but he is now regarded as a vionary by most.

2nd Rick: acknowledged, just curious, what is your capacity now? I really don't like to talk about my flair... 2R: I disagree, I think this kind of unadultered open debate atracts thinking people. It may alienate non-thinking weenies, but who cares? People like me who still enjoy the exchange of ideas that used to exist here... I am not at liberty to discuss my new position on the public forum, but I meet with a lot of CIs (including some who frequent this place) and many of them say that there is too much BS to sift through to get to the good discussions about our industry. ed: I agree, Owen sounds like a reasonable person. He is, I know him well... I will be spending next week in Colorado. I'm going to track him down and stalk him for a while, then I'll decide. Just kidding. I am going back to CO, but I have no interest in crossing paths w/ Owen. Good thing... You would be dissapointed to find that Barrington, IL (listed in the profile) is not in Colorado. There, now I am a smart ass too... You may have been thinking of FortuneTeller...??? Final note: I don't make a habit of destroying people's beliefs, it's just that, on this particular issue, I believe I have a little more insight. I understand the frustration. It is very similar to Reagan and the Cold War. People were very frustrated with him, but he is now regarded as a visionary by most. But certainly not by all... If the orangutan only knew the company he was keeping...
