Jason, did you get my email?

Regarding the Sam DLP, if we find the software is older how do we and where do we get the update? I did not see any files on the philipps site.

By the way the HLN codes work great! Wish I had them for the 360 input switching!

Steve,
If you have a HLN 46", you probably have the discrete codes. I sent you the TSU-3000 file for the Samsung sets. Try the codes and see if they work.
If the firmware is older and does not support discrete codes, you have several options. 1) return the set to where you bought it and try to work with the store to get a set with the features you need. Depending on how old your TV is, this may be easy or VERY difficult. If the salesman told you that it had discrete codes and upon searching you find out that it doesn't than you are correct in asking the store to get you a TV that has all the features you requested.
2) Call customer service at Samsung and speak to someone in management about doing the upgrade. The reported price on the board alone is over $700.00 and requires a service technician to come to your house. How much you have to pay will depend on what the current program is. For a while, the upgrade costed $200.00 including parts and labor. That program is long over and was for the early adopters of the DLP sets to take advantage of quite a few upgrades that were problematic in the first release (HLM series DLPs).

What exactly do I do with these codes. I have an MX-500 and just got the new Samsung HLP (they all support discrete codes). How can I program my remote with these codes. Do I need a remote that can interface with a computer??

Thanks,
Eric

I have a new HLN437W1 (mfg May 2004) that should support discrete codes. I am trying to use these codes with my MX-700. I've downloaded both the .mxf file and .ccf files available without complete success. I can get a few of the codes to work (on, off, S-video 1, PC) but most of the others (Comp 1,2,3; Svid1,2,3, etc) will not. Any ideas? The latest .ccf file available here (rev1) will not open at all in MX-Editor.

Thank you,

N00b

I just installed an HLN507W last night and have the same problem as VideoNewbie. On, Off, S vid 1 and PC were the only codes that worked. Anybody know what the deal is?

I need the code for the HDMI input. Anyone got it. I have a Samsung HLp5674 with both the DVI and HDMI inputs. I thought the HLN series had both digital inputs also. Gota have it. Please help.

I am not sure Samsung will come clean on the truth. The 43" sets controller boards don't support the codes that don't work. You'll have to go to one that does and toggle to the onre you want.

Unless this hits the OEM in the pocket book, these issues are going to be with us. Stop purchasing equipment (or for your customers) from Mfgrs that don't care about.

I only have direct experience with a 43" and a 50" HLN series and they both have these issues. Call Samsung support yourself if you like.

Art- I'm looking for On/Off discretes for my HL-P4674w, I've got all the other discretes but they're for an MX-800. I don't know if that will do you any good.

Just an FYI. I just got off the phone with Samsung and explained that I have a customer that has an old version of the HLN617W that doesn't support descrete inputs. She told me that a tech would come out and do the upgrade at no charge. I asked her if she was SURE that there would be no charge, since I had heard that the upgrade could cost as much as 700$. She said all I would have to do is have the customer call with his name and address and they would set up an appointment. I'll post again with an update.
