I'm having the same problems many of you are having: the posted discrete codes do not work with my European supplied Samsung LW32A23W 32" LCD TV. I bought this December 2003 and have not yet given up hope of finding a set of working discrete codes for my ProntoProNG.

Using DecodeCCF, the existing learned codes from the TV are decoded as an NECx2 Device 7, but the discrete codes I've generated using MakeHex for this device, or copied from the various threads on this forum, do not work.

Here is an example of the learned On/Off toggle:
0000 006A 0022 0000 00AF 00B0 0016 0042 0016 0041 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0015 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0015 0016 0042 0016 0015 0016 0042 0016 0041 0016 0042 0016 0041 0016 0042 0016 0041 0016 00B0

Not knowing the Samsung US model numbers, I don't know what an appropriate model would be so that I could concentrate my efforts. Does anybody know what a similar US model number would be for the LW32A23W or "LW-32A23W".

As anybody who owns one knows, the warm up and switching input delays are so long (greater than 12 secs) that the discrete codes are desperately needed to automate it with the Pronto. Otherwise you have to wait 20 secs just to see if the toggle turned the set off in the middle of a switch macro!

Thanks for any responses,
Sean

These problems are worth a change in the habit of your financial investment if not your investment of time. Until Samsung can address these issues, shop a different brand.

I have no problem making a recommendation for one of the PC LCD's for Photo editing, but there's no way I could recommend anything Samsung for the living room at this point. An intuitively designed component would not lock out command input due to a simple warming delay. There's simply no reason for this when the firmware can control when the picture is actually displayed - a bank image is fine during the delay, but it should not be up to the user or control system to wait to send a command util after a (seemingly) arbitrary wait period.

You're right Bruno. Unfortunately discrete code capability and warm up time were not on my check list 14 months ago when I bought the set. They should have been, and will be next time. Back then I was really looking out for DVI inputs, which it has but most of the competition did not.

If anybody has had any success finding discrete codes for the hard-to-satisfy Samsungs, please post your findings. This seems like more of a general question affecting many Samsung LCD owners, rather than a specific question on my LW32A23. That's why I did not start a separate thread.
