I have a media room for a customer that didn't want to spend alot(never heard that before).
I am using an infocus projector with a yamaha receiver and other standard components. I cannot find discrete codes for the infocus for on/off. My client is clueless about remotes. I however have this set up on the Rav2000 so that 2 button pushes gives him
anything he wants to watch. I am not having too many sync problems with system start-up, but I am experiencing problems with single button shut-down.
I do not want to trigger the projector outlet as that will shut down the fan as well.
Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks

most infocuses don't have them

just read the other day that the cooling after the projector is off is there so that the Projector can cool faster and therefore can be restarted faster. And that for the bulb it is better to cool without the fan (it was posted by one of the engineers at a company that builds projectors in one of the AVScience forums).

P.S. I think he said that if left without power, the lamp should be cool enough after 1/2 hour, but not sure.

We have been purchasing a IR / RS232 converter from a local (Seattle) distributer. It gives access to all necessary discrete codes. I wouldn't install a LS110 without it.

BTW - It only works on the 110

They have dubbed it "celedon." It is a small box that has an IR window with a DB9 output. It does require power via a wall-wart...

email me if you would like contact info for the distributor.

Our thoughtful friends at Xantech also have two products, one converting IR to RS232, the other RS232 to IR. I have no idea how they create the IR, but then that is what the instructions are for, I guess....
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Don't know about the "forced cool-down" mentioned above...of the many projectors I have installed, the only lamp failures have been for one of two reasons...the lamp was 3 years old and just worn out, or the power to the projector was removed during the cool down cycle. The latter has happened at least 4 times, on different projectors. You can kind of use a mock-discrete power off with most projectors from in-focus; press power twice to turn off the unit (press once "Turn off projector? Press power again"). This will also turn the projector on if it was off, so only press power once in your macro for system on.

The IR to RS232 converter can be purchased directly from Celadon for about $90 bucks and it works great.
a pronto configuration is supplied with it. For previously not programmed components ther is a $200 programming charge but if it's in their library the total cost is $90. The only caveat is this info is 8 or 9 months old

Possibly. Check their website for more info.

Why not just include the POWER TOGLE in there SYSTEM OFF press, and give them a seperate "PROJECTOR ON" button - Simple tell them to press this first, let the system warm up for 1 min, and than do a system on, or whatever...

Works for me... I dont think its a good idea to kill the power to the projector. Besides, wouldnt you have to included a POWER ON, and than a PROJECTOR ON in your macro... 1 less command you dont need to worry about cycling.

If you kill the projector power, you will blow the bulb in an LCD.
